An accomplished teacher and pianist, Bruce Russell completed his Master’s in Piano Performance at Cal State Long Beach, studying with Edith Hirshtal, a former student of the great Leon Fleischer. Upon completion of his Master’s, Bruce earned a Professional Certificate at the Manhattan School of Music, working with Phillip Kawin. Douglas Humpherys, now chair of the piano department at the Eastman School, provided him with an excellent expressive foundation during undergraduate days at Brigham Young University.
A native Southern Californian and resident of Long Beach, Bruce has studied with acclaimed Los Angeles-based instructors Kevin Fitz-Gerald, Neil Stannard and Mark Uranker. He is a member of the faculty at Cerritos College and performs frequently both as a soloist and collaborative pianist.
